Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 September 2026
This app holds a family's birth data: yours, and often your parents', your children's and your partner's. That is more sensitive than most apps ever carry, so this policy is written to be read rather than to be survived.
Tridev operates Bansi Astro ("Bansi", "we", "us"). This policy covers the Bansi Astro mobile app for iOS and Android, and this website.
1.The short version
Six things, and everything below is the detail behind them.
- Your questions are never used to train an AI model. Not ours, and not a model provider's. We hold no rights to train on what you ask, and the providers we use are contractually barred from training on it either.
- Your history is saved so you can go back to it. It sits in our database, encrypted, readable by you. We use it to show you your own threads and, in aggregate, to see how the app is being used and where it is failing. Nothing else.
- Analytics never carries your question text or your name. It records that a reading happened, not what it was about.
- We never sell your personal data, and we never share it for advertising. There is no ad network in the app and no data broker behind it.
- Deleting your account deletes the data. It is a real deletion, not a flag on a row.
- We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13. The app is not directed at them.
2.What we collect, and why
Only what an answer needs, plus what a store requires us to have. Nothing here is collected speculatively in case it is useful later.
- Birth details. Date, time, place of birth, and how you know your birth time. This is what the reading is computed from. Without it there is no chart and no answer. The precision answer matters as much as the time itself, because it decides what the engine is permitted to assert.
- Details of people you save. If you save a partner, a parent or a child in order to ask about their chart, we hold the same birth details for them. You are responsible for having their agreement before you enter them, and you can delete any saved person at any time.
- Your questions and the readings returned. Your question text is sent to our servers to be answered, and the thread is stored there against your account. That is what lets you reopen a reading months later, ask a follow-up, and pick the same thread up on a new phone. It also lets us investigate a report that an answer was wrong. It is never used to train a model, and it is never read by a person for marketing.
- Account identifier. A phone number or email address, used to sign you in and to restore your balance on a new device. We do not use it for marketing unless you separately opt in.
- Purchase records. Which recharge you bought and when, so your balance is right. We never see or hold your card details. See section 5.
- Device and diagnostic data. App version, device model, operating system version, coarse region, crash reports and performance traces. This is how a crash on a specific Android build gets found and fixed.
3.What we deliberately do not collect
- Your contacts, photos, camera, microphone recordings kept after transcription, precise GPS location, or your device's advertising identifier.
- Any special-category data beyond the birth details you enter. We do not ask about your health, your religion, your caste, your politics or your sexual orientation, and you should not enter them.
- Anything at all on the crisis-support path. If the app detects that a question signals risk of harm, it shows support information and that interaction is excluded from analytics and from logging entirely. It is never recorded with the question text, never cached, never retried, and it cannot be A/B tested.
4.How AI models are used
Bansi is not a chatbot with an astrology prompt, and the distinction matters for your privacy as much as for the quality of the answer.
A language model reads your question to work out what was asked, and later writes the answer back in your language. Between those two steps sits a deterministic engine that computes the chart and decides what is true. The model is never given the power to decide an outcome.
We use Claude models from Anthropic for that language work. OpenAI's models are supported through the same provider layer and may be used alongside them.
Neither of them trains on what you ask. Both are used through their business API tiers, on which submitted content is excluded from model training by contract, and both retain it only briefly for abuse monitoring before deleting it. We do not train a model on your questions either, and we have no plans to. If that ever changes, it will be opt-in and this page will say so before it happens.
We send the provider the text of your question and the computed findings it must express. We do not send your name, your phone number, your email address, or your account identifier.
5.Payments
Bansi Astro is free to try. After that you recharge your balance as an in-app purchase.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and by Google through Google Play, using their own payment systems. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements and to keep your balance consistent across devices.
We never receive, see or store your card number, UPI ID or bank details. Apple and Google handle payment entirely, and their own privacy policies govern that processing. What we receive back is an anonymised transaction identifier, the product bought, and whether it is valid.
Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple and Google under their policies, not by us.
6.Analytics and crash reporting
We use Firebase (Google) for analytics, crash reporting and performance monitoring, so we can tell that a screen is failing on a particular device rather than waiting to be told.
Analytics events record that something happened: a reading was opened, onboarding was completed, a purchase succeeded. They do not carry your question text, your birth details or your name.
What we look at is the shape of the whole, not your row in it. How many people finish onboarding, where they give up, which screens are slow, which builds crash. Those are counts across everybody, and they are the only reason this data exists.
Crash reports do not contain your question content.
7.Notifications
If you allow them, we send three kinds of notification and no others: your daily reading, a note that an answer you asked for is ready, and a genuinely rare significant transit in your own chart.
We do not send engagement bait. This audience is often anxious, which is exactly why that kind of notification converts and exactly why we will not use it.
9.Where data is processed
Bansi is operated from India and serves users worldwide, and our processors operate globally. Your data may therefore be processed outside the country you live in, including in the United States.
By using the app you agree to that transfer. Wherever it is processed, it is handled under this policy and under our agreements with each processor.
10.How long we keep it
- Birth details and saved people. Until you delete them, or until you delete your account.
- Your questions, threads and readings. While your account is active, so your history is there when you want it. Delete a thread and it goes; delete your account and all of it goes.
- Purchase records. As long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep them, which is longer than your account may live.
- Diagnostic and crash data. Kept for a rolling window and then deleted.
11.Your rights and your controls
Whatever jurisdiction you are in, the same controls are in the app rather than behind a support ticket.
- Edit or delete any saved person, including yourself, from Settings › People.
- Delete any thread from your history at any time.
- Delete your account from Settings › Privacy. This deletes your birth details, your saved people, and your questions and readings.
- Request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or object to a particular processing, by writing to samanyou@bansi.ai. We answer within 30 days.
- If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act gives you rights of access, correction, erasure and grievance redressal; if you are in the EEA or UK, the GDPR gives you the equivalent rights plus the right to complain to your supervisory authority; if you are in California, the CCPA gives you rights of access, deletion and correction, and the right not to be discriminated against for using them.
12.Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to operate the service, and is logged.
No system is perfectly secure, and any company that tells you otherwise is selling something. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
13.Children
Bansi Astro is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Entering a child's birth details as a saved person is a different matter and is permitted, but it is your responsibility as their parent or guardian, and the same deletion controls apply.
14.Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled in a way that matters, we will update this page and tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
15.Contact
Write to samanyou@bansi.ai for anything in this policy: a question, a request about your data, or a complaint. A person reads it.
